When Do You Know?

"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall."

F. Scott Fitzgerald

Dear One,

I realize that today is the first official day of Fall, but we all live in different spots and we all embrace the season a bit differently. So what is the thing that makes you know---in your bones---that autumn is truly here?

And please don't bring up Pumpkin Spice Lattes---because I swear they start showing up on menus right after the Fourth of July. And the same goes for school supplies on the shelves of big box stores. I guess school buses full of kids and backpacks can be a signal of Fall...and (around my area) apple stands selling all of the local varieties might be the sign for some. But for me, that Fall-ish feeling begins with the gently changing length of day and the more southerly arc of the sun...and then my heart becomes completely wrapped up in Fall on the first day I pull out a long-sleeved, hand-knit sweater.

At the shop, it feels like Fall when the Yarnologists begin coming to work with multiple Hinza Totes in their hands. It is a phenomenon that I cannot truly explain: we are knitting and crocheting year-round...and we use Hinza Totes year-round, but at this point in the year the the "Hinza load" increases exponentially. Small ones for lunch and snacks and swatches for potential projects. Large ones for bigger, woolier projects and water bottles and laptops and an extra pair of shoes. Parking our assorted totes when we arrive at the shop for work can be a bit of a challenge!

Perhaps autumn makes us want to be prepared for all of the possible directions a day can take? I can't be sure.

I do know that I feel more at ease when my most important stuff is in a Hinza. The waterproof tote is reassuring when it's suddenly raining cats and dogs, but I was expecting a bluebird sort of day. And the amazingly sturdy handles are trustworthy even when my day includes a stop to pick up groceries (and wine) for last minute dinner guests.

Hinza has just released two brand new colors: a deep, rich Brown and a charming Rose Gold. We only have a few of each of these, so be sure to check them out. They might be perfect additions to your Hinza collection!

The busyness of life rolls a bit more smoothly for me when I have things sorted into designated containers. You laugh, but...  And when the things need to be transported, I love for the container to be a beautiful Swedish tote.

May your organizational system---however it looks to the outside world---support you while you take time to do all the autumnal things.

Warmly,

Gaby
