The Big Reveal!

“Good morning. Eyes up. Hearts up. Minds up. Compassion on full blast. Okay. let's go.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Dear One,

Remember that scene in Miracle on 34th Street where the Macy's Santa sends families to other stores so parents can find and afford the gifts their children are asking for? I love that open handedness. It makes my heart happy when businesses I love work together for the benefit of everyone.

Yarnology is part of just such a generous team effort, and it all kicks off today.

We are ecstatic to announce a collaborative Yarn Club where Yarnology and Palmer Yarn Company join forces. Palmer Yarn will create a monthly colorway (not available in shops--not even ours!) and Yarnology will be in charge of getting a skein of that exclusive DK yarn into the hands of Club subscribers.

Of course, we cannot resist adding some inspirational extras---dare we call them party favors? Some months, the extra might be a full-on pattern designed specifically for that month's gorgeous yarn. Other months, we may throw in a tool or a coupon. You'll need to subscribe to get the loot! As a subscriber, you'll be invited to a monthly Yarn Club gathering where ideas will flow and yarn-y camaraderie will be the order of the day (if you're a distance from us, ask about a Zoom link).

Here's a sneak peek at Palmer Yarn Company's inspiration board. Each group of five hues hints at one month's colorway.

But which cluster of colors will become January's DK? And which will be February's inspiration? Only the talented Kimberly Palmer knows for sure.

We've worked to make the Yarn Club subscription options as flexible as possible and we hope there's an opt-in level for every budget:

At the top of the pile is the subscription every Yarnologist has their eye on, and it also might be perfect as a gift from/for that special someone.  Twelve Months of Palmer DK Club ($365) It's a lot, I know, but it's also the most bang for your buck. And the most yarn in your clever hands. All the party favors and experiences are included. This subscription is NOT recurring.

Next in line is the Three Months of Palmer DK Club ($96). You get a bit of a price break on the yarn and all of the goodies are included. The currently available quarter is Jan-Feb-Mar 2025 and, while this subscription is not automatically recurring, you'll get first dibs on signing up for the next quarter. Another fabulous gift idea, right?

In case you're NOT up for a series of happy surprises--but one gentle surprise at a time sounds lovely--we also offer a Monthly Palmer DK Club. This level gives you a small window of opportunity to skip/cancel the upcoming month's colorway (after glimpsing the inspirational color palette). The cost per skein is a wee bit higher here, but the payback is that you're more in the driver's seat. This subscription is recurring.

If I'm being completely honest, I'm one of those people least likely to sign up for a mysterious subscription. Even a Cheese of the Month Club makes me stop and think. While I love picking up a monthly "prize" or getting a package delivered to my front door, I'm a bit of a control freak. So the idea of someone choosing my hand-dyed yarn for me might have me gnashing my teeth.

But I have never met a Palmer Yarn color I didn't like. Kimberly's palette and aesthetic for combining colors always draw me in. And knowing that every single skein included in this color collaboration will be her great Sock DK (75% superwash merino/25% recycled nylon, 246 yds), so I can make gifts for those who will absolutely forget to hand wash, clinches the deal for me.

Perhaps best of all, this new Yarn Club is a way to support two delightful small businesses...and a way for these two small businesses to support one another. It warms my heart in all sorts of ways.

If you feel the same, act quickly. Because these skeins are custom dyed to order, we only have until December 15 to sign up for the package deals! I can hardly wait to see what January brings!

Warmly,

Gaby
