Sometimes It's Cool to Arrive Last Minute

“Ramona was the sort of girl who was always early because something might happen that she didn't want to miss.”

Beverly Cleary

Dear One,

I have always, always been a person who shows up on time (or early) and sits in front so I can see and hear everything. (I know you can picture me and, yes, I'm probably taking notes.) But I'm guessing you can immediately name that one cool kid in your class who always seemed to arrive for class at the absolute last moment, slide gracefully into a seat in the back, and calmly be present for whatever was about to happen. No sweating, no dishevelment, no apology.

It's taken me decades to realize that that particular way of arriving---at the exact moment of launch---is every bit as legitimate as my must-be-present-for-countdown frame of mind. Each tendency speaks to a different level of tolerance for stress, but one is not better than the other.

With that as a backdrop, let me invite you to participate in the final month of Yarnology's Palmer DK Club. Perhaps a year or a quarter of beautifully hand-dyed DK yarn from Palmer Yarn Company was too much. Or maybe earlier opportunities to join the Club simply hit you at the wrong moments in your life. But now you have a hankering to join the fun. At precisely the last moment.

Here are the colors that Kimberly Palmer has chosen as inspiration for the December mystery skein. I love that they are mid-wintery without being ho-ho-ho-y. And whenever I think I know what she'll create, I'm always wrong---in the very best way. Her creative mind is guaranteed to go somewhere unexpectedly beautiful, and take us all along for the ride.

If your curiosity is piqued, click here before November 15 to add your name to the list of those receiving the final skein of 2025. If you're out of the area, we ship to you. If you're anywhere near the shop, you may pick up in person (and you'll be invited to an optional, but inspirational Palmer Pick-Up Party on the morning of December 6).

We always include a gift with the Club skein and rumor has it that this month's party favor will be a hot, new pattern---never before seen in the wild. But you need to sign up to find out!

We have had a blast with this year's Palmer + Yarnology collaboration. So much so that part of us wishes it could go on forever. But it cannot. Palmer Yarn Co. is taking a break from dying for clubs in the New Year and the Yarnologists are busy imagining fun and inviting ways to expand your yarn horizons in 2026. Stay tuned.

Whether you choose to join us in the excitement of the December Palmer Yarn Club or not, I wish you happy creating in the weeks ahead. These early evenings are perfect for tucking in with great yarn!

Warmly,

Gaby

P.S. The final Makers Morning of the year is THIS SATURDAY, November 15 from 10 to noon. And who among us couldn't use a calm, cozy spot to work on on-going projects for a couple of hours? The cost is $10 to hold your seat, and you get a $5 credit on any purchase in the shop that day. So it ends up being a small price to pay for a little bit of lovely sanity.
