New Yarn In the House!

"I think there's only one kind of folks. Folks."

Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird

Dear One,

I recently read that it has been 64 years since To Kill a Mockingbird was published, which caught my attention, I suppose, because that beautiful book and I are not too far apart in age.

I cannot remember exactly when I first read it, but it was early high school--and I am sure I shirked all chores and duties, draped myself over a chair, and dove completely into the story. Much later I remember listening to an audio version on a family driving vacation to the Black Hills. The tale generated lots of wonderful discussions and I'm fairly certain that my younger son fell more than a little in love with Scout on that trip. And who doesn't fall a little in love with Scout?

We have a new yarn in the shop and her name is also Scout, so I can hardly wait to for you to meet her!

Friend, please allow me to introduce Scout by Kelbourne Woolens

She is a DK weight 2-ply heathered wool designed with classic knitting and crochet in mind. Scout is yarn for the sake of yarn, perfect for garments. She is unfussy, beautiful, high-quality, and comes in a gorgeous color palette.

To get this new friendship launched properly, we're hosting a Limited Time Trunk Show featuring three sweaters, a couple of hats, and a cowl. Each is lovely...and the Yarnologists are already be inspired to plan new projects.

The show leaves the shop on Sept. 27th, so come in--if at all possible--while it's still available for oohing and aahing and, of course, touching!

There can never be enough Atticus Finches in the world. And I guess I feel the same way about Scouts--both the brave little girl and the down-to-earth yarn. If you're looking for a yarn that's beautiful but not showy, new-to-you but feels like an old friend--you need to meet Scout.

May these blue sky days lift you up and pull you out the door--even if it means playing hooky from your to-do list.

Cheers,

Gaby

Reminder: Now is a great time to find any and all old-version Yarnology Gift Cards (bar code on back). They expire on Oct 31, 2024--so gather them up and treat yourself to a new project...or tool set...or...
