Let the Celebration Begin!

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I imagine that Yarnology would be a warm, thriving business 15 years after Kelly and I began. I don't know if I had ANY thoughts regarding long-term vision. If memory serves, we were just focusing on getting through the first holiday season with only the two of us working all of the hours and barely remembering to eat and stay hydrated! But we survived. We survived the steep learning curve of the first couple of years. We survived a global pandemic. And we're currently surviving the frustrating tariff situation. We have beaten all the odds for a new retail business in a small-ish community.

What's our secret? A lot of work, enormous amounts of luck, and the support of an amazing number of yarn people---from both close to home and all over the globe. Thank you for being one of those people. 

THIS Saturday, November 22 is the big day of celebration and we're doing several things to mark the occasion of Yarnology's 15th Birthday: great prize drawings on the hour, gifts with purchase, gorgeous new window displays, and more. If you're ordering online, we'll be tucking lovely surprises into your package as well.

But I think my favorite 15th Birthday surprise is a new bag that launches today. It's pictured above and pays special homage to this very newsletter. We've got the shop logo on one side, and on the other...you'll find our classic newsletter greeting. 

The bag design was inspired by a sweet conversation that took place at a recent Saturday Makers Morning in the shop. The makers who gathered began talking about waking up to the newsletter and reading it before they started their day and the cozy feeling the Dear One greeting gave them. I was touched to hear about their conversation and Kelly and Elle were inspired to honor the newsletter by creating a cool bag.

I do not use the term "cool" lightly, either. This bag, which looks like leather, is actually made of beautiful, washable, heavyweight kraft paper. It's the size of the small bag we give you when you check out at the shop...but reusable, sustainable, and perfect for a whole lot of things. I know I'll be using a few for gift bags this holiday season---because the bag itself can be part of the gift. And the more you wash it, the softer and more leathery the paper becomes. Huzzah!

The standard retail price for the Dear One bag will be $15. But this week, as part of our Birthday celebration, the Dear One bag is just $10 with any purchase---in person or online (use Discount Code DEARONE when ordering online).
