Don't Blink! You Might Miss It!

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."

Anne of Green Gables, L M Montgomery

Dear One,

Even though autumn can be invigorating, with its (theoretically) cooler temps and lower humidity, I also feel myself slowing my overall pace as we enter October. I'm more likely to linger over coffee than I was a month ago, more likely to be found communing with Mabel the cat as she seeks a warm lap. I'm enjoying the realization that my inner self is preparing for shorter days. I'm leaning into a definite lack of rush.

So please forgive me when I urge you to rush. It is rare that you will catch me hurrying you to make a purchase. I love telling you about what's new and interesting, but I hope you don't feel pushed. I, myself, appreciate a chance to ponder my options for a while...let things stew around in my brain until something rises to the top.

But every once in a while there is an item that comes into the shop that screams urgency. The 2025 Malabrigo/Blue Sky Holiday Kit is just such an item.

We have a limited number of these charming kits in the shop and no guarantee that we'll be able to reorder.

The kit contains all the materials and patterns for BOTH the cowl and the hat. The pattern is the Entramado Hat & Cowl, if you want to check it out in more detail on Ravelry. But don't purchase it, because the pattern is tucked into the kit!

I am delighted by the fact that this year's annual Holiday Kit collaboration between Malabrigo and Blue Sky Fibers isn't overly holiday-ish in any traditional way. The colors are soft and rich: three shades of Malabrigo Caprino (80% superfine Merino/20% Cashmere) interspersed with Blue Sky Prairie in a lovely pale neutral.

I think this year's color choices leave the door wide open for three-season wear (four seasons, if you run cool). I tried the shop sample on one afternoon this week and was sad to take it off!

It also seems like these colors and fibers will look charming on exactly everyone. Which is fabulous...because it means you can knit it for yourself, give it as a gift, put it on your wish list and be the lucky recipient, or some combination of these three.

Whether October energizes you or calms you, makes you happy for fall or reminds you that summer is truly a done deal...I hope you find a way to wrap your arms around this time of transition. May you see something lovely in the steady, measurable change this month will bring to your days.

Cheers,

Gaby
