Using What We Have On Hand
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have."
Dear One,
I realize that it's often traditional to re-organize and re-think our living spaces in Spring...but full-on air conditioning season is when my zhuzh-ing juices start flowing. When it's too darned sticky to be in the yard or on a walk, I lean toward my interior spaces. And I often find I don't need to add anything to a space to make it feel fresh and welcoming--I simply need to re-group, re-think, and re-orient the things I already have.
Similarly, I sometimes need new inspiration for ways to wear my beautiful finished pieces. I cannot count the number of times I have pulled a wrap or a shawl out to wear to work...and then folded it back up because I couldn't figure out how to style it. Does this sound at all familiar? You've spent a zillion hours crocheting or knitting a stunning wrap and you've spent (cumulatively) five hours trying it on in various ways, but zero hours wearing it out of the house? I cannot bear to have things falling off of me when I move around, so I crave ways to anchor (besides the stapler on my desk) shawls and wraps. You, dear friend, may already feel comfortable styling your accessories beautifully, but might feel you always do the same darned thing and want to add new ideas to your repertoire.
In either case, we've got the perfect event coming up on August 15: a Styling Clinic lead by the fabulous Laura Bellows. Laura is the owner and creative genius behind Jul Designs, our favorite source for all things fastener-based in the shop.
She's based in Maryland, so will be on a big screen in the shop for those who can attend in person. That also means that this is an event that allows participation via Zoom, if you're out of our area.
There's a $10 investment to reserve your spot, but we'll give you a $10 credit to spend on Jul products--whether you're in the building or online.
In the spirit of lemons-into-lemonade and zhuzhing the heck out of your favorite room, make a date to sign up for this thoughtful learning opportunity.
I'm excited to learn new ways of seeing and wearing my stuff!
See you there,
Gaby
