"It was a beautiful, bright autumn day, with air like cider and a sky so blue you could drown in it."

Dear One,
In my part of the world it is a tricky time of year to know how to dress myself. When I step outside in the morning, I may need an honest-to-goodness jacket, but by mid-afternoon, the day has moved on to t-shirt weather. The back seat of my car is full of contingency clothing: a raincoat, a light wool cardigan that's seen better days but does the trick, and a couple of shawl/scarf things for when the sun goes down.
I do struggle to know what to wear on my hands during this season of vast variabilty. Insulated gloves or mittens are way too...insulated. But bare hands are not happy hands on a 50 degree morning.
I think Elle has found the perfect solution to the dilemma of how to stay comfortable in cool temps.
These little gems are the Rime fingerless mitts by Tante Ehm. They're just the right size and weight to pop on when your hands need a bit of help and will fit perfectly in a pocket when you no longer want their warmth.
Elle knit hers using a lovely new yarn called Wool Sisters from Schoppel. The colorways are designed to work alongside one another in a sisterly fashion, each one distinct and charming, but also capable of playing nicely together.
The Rime mitts require only one ball, but every colorway is a stunner, so you may be forced to make multiple pairs. It's only right to warn you.

It's a great week to stop in the shop or spend some time perusing the website:
--The Scout Trunk Show is in house through Thursday and then heads to its next destination on Friday. The samples are inspiring, but not overwhelming, and well worth a visit.
--The window of time before old-style Yarnology Gift Cards (bar code on back) expire is slowly closing. Not to worry--you still have more than a month--but I would hate for you to forget. Please spend them!
And in case our paths don't cross this week, I hope you step outside on at least one beautiful day with "air like cider" and cozy hands tucked into fingerless mitts.
Cheers,
Gaby
