A Little Help From Your Friends
“There will be people in this life who will cut you open just to see what you are made of -- show them it is love.”
Dear One,
Have I mentioned recently how much we love it when you stop into the shop? Of course it makes us happy when you come in to find new yarn and tools. But please remember that we also look forward to having you pop in to tell us how you are, to ask us a yarny question, to bring us chocolate (John!), or just to spend some time with an Emotional Support Chicken in your lap. We consider you a friend...and if ever there was a time when we needed reminding of how rich in friends we are, this is it.
As much as we love to have you drop in for a bit of project help, we have more fun---and we think you do, too---when there's time to focus on you and your question. We are a small (but mighty) team of five and we try to always have two (sometimes three) Yarnologists on the floor. But there are still times when we cannot run the shop AND help you in the way we like.
We have an idea that we think may help. We've added the option for a "micro-session" to our list of in-house services. A micro-session is 15 minutes of one-on-one and it comes with a relatively painless $10 fee. Doesn't that sound like just the ticket when you need help solidifying a new skill? Or when your pattern needs some serious deciphering? Or when you've discovered a mistake 30 rows back and you're hoping not to rip out all of that work?
Whenever possible, your micro-session will happen spontaneously when you ask for help. On super busy days, we may offer to schedule a later micro-session at a time when it's more likely to be calm in the shop. In either case, a micro-session will allow us to focus you and the problem at hand.
Of course the things that we can do quickly, we will continue to do on the spot. Our primary goal is always going to be getting you back on track, so you can continue doing the work that you love. If your fix is quick, no micro-session needed.
We are still figuring out how to be simultaneously productive in the shop and available for you. This is definitely a work in progress. Please let us know if you think the new option is helpful and also how we could improve upon it.
And---for heaven's sake---do stop in, if you are in the area and able to find the time. Bring your work. Bring a tea or a coffee. Sit a bit. Tell us your stories. We're craving time with friends.
Warmly,
Gaby
